TECHNICAL DATA SHEET - VERTICAL LIFTING EQUIPMENT
Many metal processors have found they can make more efficient use of their warehouse capacity by storing coils in a vertical, or “eye to the sky,” position. Bushman has developed a number of products which enable processors to handle vertical coils in a safe, efficient and economical manner. Some of these products include Bushman Equipment’s automatic latch assembly which enhances efficiency by requiring only one person for operation. In addition to the standard products described below, Bushman provides custom engineered designs to meet specific dimensional, capacity and special application requirements. All of Bushman’s vertical lifting equipment is designed to provide rugged service while requiring only a minimum of maintenance. All units are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed ASME-ANSI Standard B30.20.
	The Bushman Equipment model 2020 ID coil lifter raises coils by supporting them on lifting shoes. The lifter’s arms, operated by an ergonomically designed handwheel, contract to permit entrance into the core of the coil. The lifter is lowered and one lifting shoe is placed under the coil. The operator then turns the handwheel to extend the arms outward until both lifting shoes are under the coil and the arms are pressed against the ID. The coil can now be raised and transported. The legs are held in place with a self-locking adjustment mechanism which prevents accidental disengagement. Coils must be stored on spacers to permit the lifting shoes to extend under the coil for proper engagement. To release the lifter, the arms are retracted until both lifting shoes clear the ID of the coil. The lifter can then be raised and moved away from the coil. The standard 2020 ID coil lifter is available in a variety of configurations. Please consult the factory for sizes and capacities which are not shown on the chart below.

	MODEL 6100 VERTICAL RIM COIL GRAB Vertical rim coil grabs are designed to handle coils by gripping the ID and OD on one side of the coil rim. The gripping pressure is greater than three times the total load capacity. The model 6100 grab hangs level when empty and is equipped with a Bushman automatic latch which provides safe and efficient engagement and disengagement. Lifting pads can be lined with a variety of materials from soft urethane to hardened, serrated steel pads. Please consult the factory for recommended modifications for oily or unbanded coils and for sizes and capacities not shown on the chart below.

	MODEL 6104 LOW HEADROOM COIL GRAB The Bushman Equipment model 6104 coil grab is specially designed to handle coils with various rim sizes in applications with severely limited headroom. In contrast to the 6100 grab which requires significant vertical travel space for operation, the model 6104 engages coils by means of a handwheel activated adjustment mechanism. The operator simply turns the handwheel until both lifting pads contact the coil surface. The actual clamping pressure is generated by the linkage assembly, and a minimum of vertical movement is required. Gripping pressure for Bushman’s low headroom grab is greater than three times the total load capacity. Because of variations in coil parameters, there are no standard dimensions for the 6104 coil grab. For additional technical data, please complete a Quote Request Form.
MODEL 6107 DOUBLE RIM COIL GRAB The double rim coil grab handles vertical axis coils by gripping the ID and OD on both sides of the coil rim. It offers increased protection for the integrity of the coil since it distributes its clamping pressure over twice the area as does a single rim coil grab. The outer jaws of model 6107 are adjustable to accommodate a wide range of rim thicknesses. Gripping pressure is greater than three times the total load capacity.
The double rim coil grab hangs level whether empty or loaded. It is equipped with a Bushman automatic latch which provides safe and efficient engagement and disengagement. Lifting pads can be lined with a variety of materials from soft urethane to hardened, serrated steel pads. Please consult the factory for recommended modifications for oily or unbanded coils.
