Bushman Equipment manufactures a wide variety of custom engineered lifting devices to meet the roll handling needs of the paper and textile industries.

This equipment is custom designed to perform a wide variety of operations safely and efficiently while preserving the integrity of even the most fragile roll.  Bushman lifting devices are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed the ASME B-30.20 Standard for Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices and are in conformance with the OSHA specifications existing at the time of order.

Certificates of design compliance are furnished upon request, and load testing is available for both new and existing equipment.

Model 415 Spreader Beams have J-hooks which engage a shaft that has been inserted in the core of the paper roll. Hooks are at a fixed location. Model 415 beams are available with capacities from 50 pounds to 80 tons and are often used for paper roll handling.

Model MR415 Spreader Beams, often used for paper roll handling, are designed for handling large rolls by engaging the core shaft with J-hooks. The design features double beam construction with powered rotation to turn the roll in the horizontal plane for positioning. Capacities up to 80 tons are available, as are smaller units featuring manual rotation.

Model 600 C-Hooks are furnished with a round carrying member to fit into the core of the roll. Capacity is limited by the core diameter and roll width.

Bushman roll lifters combine safety, operating efficiency and load protection. 

Model M2028 motor driven roll lifters have telescoping legs that engage the core of the roll. They handle rolls of varying widths and capacities from one to 20 tons, depending on the core size. A manual model, operated by a handwheel or chainwheel, is also available.

Model 2038 rotating axis grabs grip the OD of the roll to change its axis by rotating it about its center of gravity. The unit can be operated manually or powered by electric or air motors. This unit works best in applications where the roll is packaged, banded or otherwise secured from telescoping.

Model M2050 roll clamps are motorized grabs which handle rolls by gripping the ends. This unit can handle a wide range of lengths and capacities up to 20 tons. Manual units are also available.

Model 5609 roll lifters cradle rolls of varying sizes by gripping them around the OD. Manual units are used to handle smaller loads; motorized units are required for loads which are heavier or have larger diameters. Capacities up to 10 tons are available.

Bushman jib cranes come in heavy and light duty designs. They may be floor mounted, column mounted, or connected to both floor and ceiling. Options for motorized and hand-geared rotation are available. Capacities range from 100 pounds to 15 tons. Please see the Jib Cranes page for more information.
